The Jalpdapara forest is mainly Savannah type with tall elephant grasses. The sanctuary is widely known for its rare one- horned rhino. Other than that, animals such as Royal Bengal Tigers, deer, elephants, sambhar, barking deer, spotted deer and hog deer etc are also found in abundance.
